Homicide victim identified, body found in burning vehicle.
At 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2007, Edmonton Fire Rescue alerted police after the discovery of what appeared to be the body of an adult inside a burning vehicle on 170 Street and 87 Avenue, Edmonton, AB. Investigations revealed that the vehicle was heading southbound on 170 Street when it came to a stop in the curb lane just south of 87 Avenue.
Edmonton Police Homicide detectives still need to hear from anyone who may have any information regarding Shernell Sharon PIERRE murder. If anyone saw suspicious activity at the Misercordia Hospital around 11 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2007, particularly the southwest entrance, front doors, and anyone who may have seen the 2003 grey Toyota Corolla prior to it catching on fire. Her vehicle was found about a half hour later burning on 170 Street, just south of 87 Avenue.
On Thursday afternoon, March 13, 2007, police officers recovered her purse and its contents near some bushes on a busy walkway at 176 Street and 87 Avenue, Edmonton.
Investigators are also looking for help from the public to further the investigation. After interviewing a person of interest and examining the van below, officers want to know if anyone saw that van in west Edmonton between the evening of Wednesday, March 12, 2007, and the morning of March 13, 2007. The vehicle is a 1990 Dodge Ram full-size white van.
