In the early morning, 0230 hrs. on September 09, 2006 the victim, John BUCKNIAK, and two friends were driving west on Hermitage Road at 40 Street. A verbal dispute occurred between their vehicle and a group of five individuals (3 males and 2 females) walking across Hermitage Road from the Macs store. The victim followed the three males into a nearby townhouse complex, Hermitage I. When the victim did not return, his friends went to look for him only to find him lying on the ground in Homesteader Park (40th Street and Hermitage Road). The victim died as a result of a stab wound that he had sustained. The Edmonton Police Service is still searching for the person or persons responsible for this act, and is asking for the public’s assistance.

All 3 male suspects are described as being aboriginal, two males being 18-20 years old, and the third being about 15 years old and under 5 feet tall.

Both females were described as being aboriginal, 18-20 years of age and 5’6’’ in height.
